Frigid temperatures caused ice to develop on the face of JAY EIDEM at the American Birkebeiner. Elite cross-country skiers from around the world competed in the 50 kilometer skate style race and the 54 kilometer classic style race. The Birkebeiner is the only U.S. ski marathon sanctioned by the Worldloppet organization.
